Largan Expands Further into Medical Devices! Lin En-Chou Makes Rare Appearance: “Not About Profit, But Saving Lives”
LARGAN Precision is taking another major step into medical technology. Its subsidiary, LARGAN Health AI-Tech, held a product launch event today (26th) for its home sleep testing device, “Snore Master • DOMII Guardian.” Lin En-Chou, Vice President of the Largan Group—who rarely appears in public—made a special trip from Taichung to Taipei to show his support. He not only confirmed that he personally tested the product, but also revealed the group’s original intention in entering the healthcare industry: “not about profit, but about saving lives.”
Appearing in a blazer paired with casual jeans, Lin arrived slightly late due to traveling from Taichung to Taipei. When a journalist from Wealth Magazine approached him early on to exchange business cards, Lin politely asked to do so later in order not to interrupt the ongoing presentation. Unexpectedly, as soon as the event ended, he immediately stood up and sought out the reporter to exchange cards—demonstrating his integrity and approachable demeanor, which left a strong impression.
During the post-event media interview, when asked whether he had high expectations for the product, Lin responded with an enthusiastic “yes,” sharing that he is currently using the latest sleep monitoring device himself and is very satisfied, saying he is “sleeping very well.” His personal endorsement underscored the group’s strong commitment to its healthcare business.
Lai Cheng-Kuo, Chairman and General Manager of LARGAN Health AI-Tech, privately revealed that the development and certification of medical devices is a long and costly process. With ongoing efforts to obtain U.S. certification, the company has not yet reached profitability. However, Largan founder Lin Yao-Ying and current Chairman Lin En-Ping are less concerned about profits when reviewing operations. Instead, their primary question is: “How many people has this product helped?”
Lin En-Chou echoed this sentiment during the interview, emphasizing that, as the senior chairman has said, saving lives is what matters most. He added that as people increasingly focus on health and wellness, the group’s goal in entering the medical field is to genuinely help improve public health and allow people to live more comfortably.
Outside the event venue, numerous congratulatory flower stands from various sectors highlighted the extensive network of Lin En-Ping and Lai Cheng-Kuo, who are longtime classmates.
Looking ahead, Lai Cheng-Kuo stated that the company’s current focus is on sleep diagnosis and monitoring, with future plans to identify more effective solutions for sleep disorders. For example, through more precise monitoring, patients with obstructive sleep apnea could be further categorized to identify subtypes that may be treatable with medication, enabling physicians to provide more targeted therapies.
Regarding market expansion, Lai confirmed that the company’s cloud software successfully obtained U.S. medical certification last year, while hardware certification is currently underway and could be completed as early as this year or next. Meanwhile, applications for markets in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, are also in progress.
At present, LARGAN Health AI-Tech’s product is the only home sleep testing device in Taiwan certified by the Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine. It has already been adopted by major medical centers and clinics across the country, including National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taichung Veterans General Hospital, China Medical University Hospital, Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, and Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital.
