Chung Shan Medical University Hospital cooperates with Largan Health AI-Tech to promote Home Sleep Testing service

To enhance sleep quality among the individuals and avoid the confusions of sleep apnea, Chung Shan Medical University Hospital has recently cooperated with Largan Health AI-Tech to promote the "Home Sleep Testing" service. By using the compact and portable ECG recorder (LARGAN), individuals can monitor and record physiological signals of heartbeats and sleep at home. The recorded data can be uploaded to the "New Generation Sleep Cloud." Through algorithm of big data, the service provides doctors with the causes of various sleep disorders, enabling targeted treatment. While the device requires self-payment, the convenience and time-saving aspects have received positive feedback from patients.

The traditional polysomnography, a comprehensive sleep apnea test, requires patients to spend a night in a hospital sleep examination room, wearing multiple wires on the chest, head, and nose. The discomfort and inconvenience often result in patients being unable to complete the examination. To address these challenges and provide better medical services, Chung Shan Honorary Medical Center collaborated with Largan Health AI-Tech to develop the first medical-grade "New Generation Sleep Cloud" service in Taiwan. The service utilizes the small and precise portable ECG recorder (LARGAN), allowing individuals to wear it on the chest for home sleep monitoring . The recorded data can be uploaded to the sleep cloud established by Largan Health AI-Tech. Through mathematical calculations of big data, doctors can interpret various sleep disorder causes, such as difficulty falling asleep, sufficient slow-wave sleep, sleep fragmentation, types of sleep apnea, severity, etc.

The lightweight and user-friendly nature of the device enables patients to comfortably undergo the examination in their own beds, potentially making LARGAN a tool for comfortable and rapid screening of sleep disorders. The service currently requires an individual payment of around NT$4,000. Given that a single examination can provide valuable interpretation and aid in subsequent treatments, the acceptance among patients is generally high.

Chung Shan Medical University Hospital's Vice President, Cao Chang-Yao, stated that the hospital will continue its long-term collaboration with Largan Health AI-Tech to promote the "Home Sleep Monitoring Service." This initiative aims to raise awareness of sleep issues among the general public and health authorities. He urged the public to recognize the causal relationship between sleep disorders and chronic diseases such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, hypertension, mental illness, depression, etc. Early detection and treatment of sleep disorders can effectively reduce the probability of various chronic diseases.
