"Optoelectronic Stock" Largan Precision's subsidiary, Largan Health AI-TECH, Sleep Monitoring Product receive first domestic certification from Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine.
【Taipei Report by Times Journalist Zhang Hanqi】Largan Health AI-TECH, a subsidiary of Largan Precision (3008), received the first domestic certification from Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine for its sleep monitoring product, “DOMII”, on June 16th. Lin En-ping, Chairman of Largan Precision, stated that DOMII has already begun collaborations with medical centers such as General Hospital and National Taiwan University Hospital. The goal is to make the product an essential household item in the future. When asked about the timing of contributions to Largan Precision, Lin En-ping mentioned that they are in the early stages and hope for rapid progress.
The Taiwan Sleep Medicine Society held a media conference today for the certification of sleep technology products. According to statistics, there are approximately 1.56 million males aged 40 and above in Taiwan suffering from sleep apnea, but based on National Health Insurance data analysis, the number of patients seeking medical attention is less than 120,000, with a medical visit rate of less than 1%. This indicates that millions of people are still exposed to the risks of sleep apnea.
Largan Health AI-TECH, a subsidiary of Largan Precision, its research based on the Harvard Medical School's cardiopulmonary coupling (CPC) theory. After years of collaboration with Taiwanese sleep medicine experts and the integration of ICT-AI technology, the company developed the first national medical-grade sleep cloud, DOMII This allows doctors and the public to measure physiological signals during nighttime sleep in a more comfortable and precise method. It analyzes physiological information such as apnea, sleep quality, sleep position, body movement, nocturnal awakenings, heart rate variability (HRV), oxygen desaturation, electrocardiogram (ECG), rapid screening for arrhythmia, and autonomic nervous system .
Largan Health AI-TECH has been devoted to developing simple and home-use sleep detection. The “DOMII” as the size of an Oreo cookie, being different from previous complicated sleep detection devices. This device is non-intrusive and does not disturb the sleep of the subject. With this lightweight and comfortable device, patients with sleep disorders can undergo sleep monitoring at home without the need for hospitalization. The home becomes a monitoring station, providing a more accurate reflection of the sleep condition. Before going to sleep, users attach the “DOMII” to their chest and use the oxygen monitor. After one night, the device analyzes and tests the entire night's sleep structure, including the RDI and its occurrence time. This helps subjects better understand their sleep conditions and assists doctors in diagnosing and analyzing patients' sleep disorder problems. It also facilitates the formulation of corresponding sleep treatment plans to improve sleep quality. Patients do not need to stay in a medical sleep center but can undergo sleep monitoring at home.
Largan Health AI-TECH sleep monitoring system, “DOMII”, is first detection product in Taiwan to complete multicenter clinical validation studies in collaboration with institutions such as National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei General Hospital, China Medical University Hospital, and Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital. In October 2022, during the annual meeting of the Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine , the three hospitals jointly presented the results of their clinical validation, comparing “DOMII” with polysomnography (PSG). The results showed high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.
Lin En-ping mentioned that DOMII is still in its early stages, and they hope the product will become an essential item for every household in the future. In addition to sleep monitoring, it may extend to monitoring heart conditions such as arrhythmia. Lin En-ping looks forward to the contribution of Largan Health AI-TECH to Largan Precision as soon as possible.
