Five years in the making, Largan Precision has unveiled its sleep monitoring device"DOMII".
Largan Precision's subsidiary,Largan Health AI-TECH, released the sleep monitoring device "DOMII" on the 16th. This product, developed over five years, can be attached to the left chest to monitor sleep data and is the first certified product by the Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine . Largan Precision Chairman Lin En-ping specifically traveled to endorse the new product.
Largan Health AI-TECH, in collaboration with Harvard Medical School in the United States, used cardiopulmonary coupling (CPC) theory. With sleep medicine experts in Taiwan, they integrated ICT-AI technology to establish the first medical-grade sleep cloud, "DOMII." This enables physicians and the individuals to comfortably and accurately measure physiological signals during nighttime sleep. It analyzes information such as apnea, sleep quality, sleep posture, body movement, nocturnal awakening, heart rate variability (HRV), oxygen desaturation, electrocardiogram, rapid screening of arrhythmias, and autonomic nervous system imbalance.
The DOMII as the size of an OREO cookie, differs from traditional sleep detection devices. This non-invasive detection equipment doesn't disturb the subject's sleep and allows individuals with sleep disorders to conduct sleep tests at home, serving as a monitoring station. It provides a true reflection of sleep conditions.
Before bedtime, the user attaches DOMII to the left chest and clips oxygen monitor. After one night, the device analyzes and detects the entire night's sleep structure, including RDI and occurrence times. This not only helps individuals understand their sleep conditions more clearly but also assists physicians in diagnosing and analyzing patients' sleep disorder problems. It facilitates the formulation of corresponding sleep treatment to improve sleep quality for those with sleep disorders. Patients do not need to stay in a medical sleep center; they can conduct sleep testing at home.
DOMII is the first product in Taiwan to complete multi-center clinical verification research with major hospitals, including National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, China Medical University Hospital, and Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital. In October 2022, during the Annual Meeting of Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine, the three hospitals jointly presented the results of their clinical verification. DOMII was compared and analyzed against polysomnography (PSG) with high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.
Statistics indicate that over 1.56 million males over 40 in Taiwan suffer from sleep apnea, but the analysis of National Health Insurance data shows that the number of medical visits is less than 120,000, with a medical visit rate of less than 1%. This reveals that there are still millions of people exposed to the dangers of sleep apnea. However, sleep testing resources in Taiwan are limited and unevenly distributed. Largan Health AI-TECH has transformed academic theories into precise products, not only convenient for clinical use but also suitable for large-scale screening of potential patients. It serves as a quick screening tool for sleep testing, facilitates long-term monitoring of sleep, and tracks the effectiveness of sleep problem treatment. This effort contributes to the overall promotion of sleep health for the public.
